Every child of school age who is a resident of a PA school district is entitled to a public school education. This entitlement and the requirements to secure enrollment applies equally to resident students residing with their parent(s); to non-resident students living with a district resident who is supporting the child gratis and seeking to enroll under 24 P.S. §13-1302; to non-resident students living in a facility or institution; and to non-resident students living in a resident foster home.
Except when a child is homeless, whenever a child of school age is presented for enrollment, the school district shall require that the following information be documented before enrolling the child and allowing the child to attend school:
1. Proof of the child’s age. A child is eligible for admission to kindergarten if s/he has attained the age of five (5) years on or
before the first day of September.
2. Immunizations required by law.
3. Proof of residency.
4. Parent registration statement attesting to whether the student has been or is
suspended or expelled for offenses involving drugs, alcohol, weapons, or
infliction of injury or violence on school property. A form for this purpose is
provided by the building-level registrar in the school’s Enrollment Packet.
5. Home language survey. A form for this purpose is provided by the building-
level registrar in the school’s Enrollment Packet.
Parents/guardians of eligible students seeking to enroll in the Coudersport Area School District should contact the building-level registrar in which s/he intends to enroll.
At the elementary level (K-6), this is an elementary secretary at 274-8055
At the secondary level (7-12), this is a high school secretary at 274-8500
The building-level registrar may need to seek assistance or special approvals from the Building Principal, District Homeless Liaison, or the Superintendent in certain situations where the registration process may become more complicated in nature.
Kindergarten Registration is held in the spring of each year. Specific information for this event can be found on the district website and it is provided to the local media. By attending this event, parents/guardians and school staff have noted that the registration process is more efficient because essential school personnel are in attendance at the same time and at the same place.
